Members and Guests…
I’d like to start my first President’s letter by thanking two people who have given much of their personal time and energy to STASL over the years. First, our outgoing President Chris Boschert, who will remain as a Director on the Board. We have all enjoyed his “unique” sense of humor as he has guided STASL through one of the most challenging 2 year periods in its history. The ever changing financial landscape combined with the continual changes for local firms and members required much of his attention and we thank him for his leadership. Second, I want to acknowledge and thank Ron Gibbs from Edward Jones for his 10 plus years of service on the Board. Ron was President from 2003-2005 during which time he proved to us all that a fixed income guy could indeed lead an STA affiliate through the times of equity driven issues such as Reg NMS. As he steps down from the Board this year, he will certainly be missed.
Despite the challenging business environment, STASL remains a strong and thriving local affiliate of the Security Traders Association. Our membership numbers have held steady and we continue to have a loyal group of sponsors who provide us with support year after year. It is through their generous financial support that we are able to host our annual events and also contribute to local charities and scholarships. We look forward to future events full of content and networking, and maybe even another Cardinal game or two.
I look forward to serving you as President for the next two years. Our business is one of constant change and continuously reminds us that those who succeed are the ones who can best adapt to these changes. One of my goals is to ensure that all traders in St. Louis have the tools and information they need to succeed in these times of change.
Regards,
Paul Roettger
STASL President
